“Social Science Research on Immigration: The Role of Transnational Migration, Communities and Policy” international conference

Some 25 scholars met on ASU’s Tempe campus Sept. 10-11, 2009, for an interdisciplinary workshop to present and discuss social science research that examines immigration and its impact on transnational migration, diverse populations and communities, and law and policy. Participants were scholars whose research interests reflect a variety of disciplines and contexts -- from the U.S. to Europe to Africa. A representative from the U.S. Departmtent of Homeland Security and one from the National Science Foundation also participated. The conference was funded by a National Science Foundation grant to Principal Investigator Marjorie Zatz (ASU) and Co-Principal Investigators Charis Kubrin (George Washington University) and Ramiro Martinez (Florida International University).  Read the agenda.
