Undergraduate Certificate in Human Rights

This certificate offers ASU students expertise in human rights through socially-engaged, transdisciplinary dialog, research and practice. Coursework in the social sciences, law and the humanities prepares participating students to critically examine societal problems and to design solutions to human rights dilemmas in areas such as: health, education, violence against women, child welfare, the environment, water and energy resources and economic development.

The goal of this 18-credit hour curriculum is to promote students’ personal and professional competence with respect to human rights by providing them with the guidance, background and skills they need to work within professions most closely aligned with human rights, including legal, non-governmental, non-profit and policy-making sectors. This coursework is designed to supplement any major, including Justice Studies, by adding a human rights dimension and focus.
